Throwback Thursday #TBT

Today's Throwback is:

Dethroning Crown
Number ten is plastered on his team jersey and on his ego. In his own mind, Crown Sterling is the shit. He dates the prettiest women, he dominates on the soccer field, he pours money out of his pockets like it’s water. Until a debilitating knee injury puts him out of commission on and off the field. He’s sent to an isolated town in Louisiana to recoup, undergo physical therapy and heal. But it’s when you’re down that you find out who your real friends are, and what they value in you, if anything at all.

All Lyra wants out of life is peace and quiet. She grew up with a regular, everyday family. When she turned sixteen, rummaging through her grandmother’s hope chest in the attic, she discovered a secret that would turn her simple, normal life into a ball of chaos that revolved around her. But while she seems to face her fears head on in her career, she lives a life that’s secure and well hidden.

A new neighbor moved in next door and he’s decided that everyone needs to listen to his rap music, shattering Lyra’s quiet existence. Enraged, she stomps to the next townhouse over and who should open the door but a man whose good looks and charming smile knock her breathless.

How good looking? Just ask him.

How charming? He’ll tell you that too.

The king must be dethroned.

And a small town girl who’s been through hell is just the one to do it.

“Sometimes a soul gets pieced together wrong. But you can’t just fix it—it has to get torn apart and put back the right way.”

Teaser Tuesday

I'm working on Beholden furiously!

So, a little teaser?

Looking around, I couldn’t see what she was so anxious about. These were people I’d known since I was a cub and none of them would ever touch my mate or harm her. “They know.” She whispered a little too loudly. An older man next to us chuckled but then covered it up with a hacking cough. “Who knows what?” While pinching the hell out of my forearm, she pulled me a little to the side. “They all know that—what you and I—you know what I’m talking about. You’re just screwing with me.” Of course someone had to join in. “No, sweetie, that’s for after the mating!”

Friend Friday

Today I want to introduce Misty Provencher. She writes young adult and teen as well as other genres under her second pen name. Here is some more info about her and her books.

Misty Provencher/ Misty Paquette is a prolific author, long-term wife and mama. The second two are a bit more recent, but Provencher’s writing roots date back to the hieroglyphics she left in her mother’s womb.

While Provencher can ride a motorcycle, knows how to Karate chop, and has learned enough French, Spanish, and Sign Language to get herself slapped, Misty's life is dedicated to connecting with the people who cross her path. She is totally enchanted with the world and spends her days trying to translate her everyday muses into words.

Misty Provencher's catalog includes fantasy books for Young Adults and Teens.
Misty Paquette's catalog houses contemporary romance, literary fiction, Sci-fantasy, and erotica for New Adult and Adult readers.
A little something for everyone.

Misty Provencher lives in the Mitten. Knock on her internet blog door and sign up for her newsletter at and wherever great coffee is sold.

How does a suburban teen runaway survive living at a hotel in downtown Detroit? Maybe she doesn’t. Based on true events, Weeds of Detroit is a gripping novel about what it is like to live in a place where survival is a day by day struggle.

Friend Friday

I wanted to start introducing my author friends on Fridays. These are authors I love to read and I call them friends. So, I wanted to begin with Casey L. Bond and her Frenzy Series. I love this series. It should be on your TBR. Here is a little about her and her series.

Title: Frenzy
Author: Casey L Bond
Genre: YA Paranormal
Cover Designer: Cover Me Darling
Blurb: After the world was ravaged by a viral apocalypse, Blackwater is one of the only colonies that remains. The survivors came together to create this safe haven. Nestled between a fierce river and a city’s flood wall, the well-being of its residents hangs on a long-established treaty with the night-walkers. Sounds simple enough, but lately, the people of Blackwater have been dying, and the humans believe the night-walkers are to blame. Porschia Grant starves for more than her parents’ affection. Forced to enter the rotation, she will be given extra food rations in exchange for becoming a vampire’s breakfast and dinner for a week. The rotation has an extra responsibility as well: leave the colony and enter the dangerous forest to hunt for food. A night-walker will protect the hunters from the infected that roam the woods. But with the treaty hanging in the balance and tension between the humans and vampires rising, anything could happen in the darkness. What would you do if your only chance at survival might kill you?
Title: Frantic
Author: Casey L Bond
Genre: YA Paranormal
Cover Designer: Cover Me Darling
Model: Jacey Julep
Blurb: Porschia Grant is in Frenzy. The hunger is constant. It’s all-consuming, as is the pain and sickness. Something went wrong when she turned. Perhaps it was the fact that an infected bit her moments before, or maybe it’s something else entirely.
One thing is certain, if Porschia can’t learn to feed, she will die. If she can’t learn to control her extreme emotional swings, she will kill someone.  And that would destroy her.
How long can the night-walkers keep her turning a secret from the Colony? Will Saul stand beside her now that she’s changed? And what will happen when she re-enters the forest?
Title: Frequency
Author: Casey L Bond
Genre: YA Paranormal
Cover Designer: Cover Me Darling
Model: Nathan Weller
Blurb:  When the Infected attacked, something horrific happened to Porschia Grant. Porschia in Frenzy was scary; Porschia with hallucinations is terrifying. There has to be a reason, and there must be a cure for the episodes refusing to release her from their tentacles of insanity.
Saul is in the center of the city surrounded by secrets–some are damning, some are eye opening—others might just offer hope and be worth fighting for. How can a person justify the possibility of infecting another human being? What might the humans and night-walkers lose if he doesn’t take the chance?
The decisions made, and the lies uncovered, will shock everyone in and around Blackwater, and they just might spark a revolution.
Everything emits a sound… and hunger is deafening… horrible.
Title: Friction (Frenzy, #4)
Author: Casey L. Bond
Genre: YA Paranormal
Cover Designer: Cover Me Darling
Model: Daniel Wells
Cover Photography: Cassy Roop of Pink Ink Designs

Blurb: A cure has been found for both the Infection and Vampirism, and Porschia Grant must take this news out of the colony. Between her friends volunteering to go with her and a well-planned route, the first journey should be easy. But when they make it to Mountainside, things are strange. The people are frightened of female night-walkers and won’t say why.
When the excursion takes a wrong turn, Porschia’s friends make a decision that will impact the rest of their lives. They expect to save Porschia from the evil contained in The Manor; they don’t expect to have to save her from herself.
When everything goes wrong, who will be left to pick up the pieces and save Ford from a threat no one could have seen coming?
What will happen when they risk everything to save one?

Every curse has a beginning.

Hunger is deceitful.

Whatcha Reading Wednesday?

I always ask what is everyone reading. So, I thought I would share my current read with you. Right now I am reading Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert. In case you don't know her she wrote Eat Pray Love. This book is amazing. I recommend it to everyone. It has really helped me with my writing.

Readers of all ages and walks of life have drawn inspiration and empowerment from Elizabeth Gilbert’s books for years. Now this beloved author digs deep into her own generative process to share her wisdom and unique perspective about creativity. With profound empathy and radiant generosity, she offers potent insights into the mysterious nature of inspiration. She asks us to embrace our curiosity and let go of needless suffering. She shows us how to tackle what we most love, and how to face down what we most fear. She discusses the attitudes, approaches, and habits we need in order to live our most creative lives. Balancing between soulful spirituality and cheerful pragmatism, Gilbert encourages us to uncover the “strange jewels” that are hidden within each of us. Whether we are looking to write a book, make art, find new ways to address challenges in our work,  embark on a dream long deferred, or simply infuse our everyday lives with more mindfulness and passion, Big Magic cracks open a world of wonder and joy.

The Hunger
“A lot’s happened since you decided to shut down and wallow in self-pity. You’ve been impossible to talk to, and I’ve been bored out of my mind. I thought we came here because we were going to figure things out. What happened to ‘I’m going to save the people I love’? Did you just feed me that bull so I’d agree to come with you?”
“You know that’s not true. I meant it.” “Then what’s the hold up?” Galilea’s irritated face turned a subtle shade of pink. Her pulse quickened just the slightest bit. I was surprised at how much my senses had developed. Heighted. Months ago, I wouldn’t have noticed any of this, but now, I could even smell the natural notes of musk on her skin. I felt my mouth water. Sometimes, I liked that my new superhuman senses gave me insight to peoples’ moods and emotions. Most of the time, they were waiting for me to let my guard down so the beast could take over. “Galilea.” I closed my eyes. “I’m hungry.” “You can’t just change the subject. You do it all the time. I’m tired of it.” “I’m not changing the subject. I’m trying to tell you I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to control myself. How am I supposed to save anyone when I want to rip out their guts?”
Author Bio: Nely Cab is a Writer of stuff, a Master Coffee Drinker, a Food Maker & Eater, an Imaginary World Conqueror, and an Air Breather. She talks to herself—a lot—in her South Texas home while she plots stories about fantasy worlds and sips coffee from a pitcher. She’s known for cooking far too much food and has a tendency to overdo…well, everything. It is rumored that she is fabulous. Nely Cab is the best-selling author of the Creatura series.
