Forced Autonomy / Last Teaser

The last Forced Autonomy Teaser.

Release Date: January 3

Still wrapped in my cocoon of reminiscence, I heard footsteps coming down the hall just as I’d finished the last words to the song. The other tenants were so quiet, I could hear a pin drop. I flipped the comb in my hand, wielding the sharpened end instead of the hygienic end and darted behind my shell of a refrigerator. The footsteps continued, the sounds indicating the carrier of feet grew closer and closer. A rattle on the door sent my heart into frantic palpitations followed by a complete seizure of beats. This was no toy soldier, they came in packs and never that late. The steps outside that night were heavier, somehow they felt more determined though to most they would be nearly noiseless.
I sidestepped back into place behind the fridge as the owner of the footsteps entered.
A male voice, scratchy and raspy, claimed he was with the government. I may have been sheltered as a child but I’d never acquired a taste for bullshit. And he reeked of it. Then he confessed, though I could tell by the pieced together, almost quilted clothes he wore, that he was no government agent.

Sparrows For Free Teaser

A Teaser from Sparrows For Free,
 a contemporary romance coming soon.

It was the weekend I met Mara—I knew when I laid eyes on her that my life would never be the same. Of course, my naïve, cocky, self thought that meant I was gonna get laid for the first time. I think most people, if they had one wish, would go back and tell themselves to do something different. They’d make sure they didn’t do anything stupid or future altering. I just wanted to go back to that post-game party and drag Mara away from the teenager me—tell her that if she valued her life, if she valued life at all—she’d run and never look back. I would shake her if I had to, take her by the hand and pull her into another room, a car, a cab—anything. I’d scream in her face, ‘He’s gonna ruin you. He’s gonna make your life hell. He’s gonna screw up any hopes and dreams you’ve ever had. Run, Mara, run.’

Echo, we’re home. We just went through the gate.”

I dragged in a breath through my nose and instantly smelled the difference between where I’d been and where I was. Instead of snow and ice, I smelled sunshine and rich earth. I could feel the humidity in the air, the difference in atmosphere. Not to mention, there was no longer the rank muskiness always around me.

I knew I didn’t stink.”

The cab broke out in laughter, “Who told you that you stink?”

Horace, all the time. I swear, I spent more hours in the shower than in bed. But the grizzlies were the ones with the funk.”
That brought out a whole new round a masculine chuckles.

You definitely don’t stink. And please, stop talking about being in the shower in front of others,” Hawke whispered in my ear, but from the snickers behind me, I knew they’d all heard.

FALSE START is LIVE!

Rex has firsthand knowledge of how love can rip a person to shreds. How it can swallow a person whole, leaving them gasping for air, and dying a lonely person. He watched his mother give everything she had to his father and then she died, too weak and frail to continue on. His father, the deranged man who could barely feed himself—taking care of him left a permanent crease on Rex's heart. He swears he can still hear his pleas for help in his sleep. Forced Autonomy / New Novella Series

I've decided to do a novella series!!!

Here is the cover and the Goodreads link and below a special teaser!!!

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18780670-false-autonomy

Then he confessed, though I could tell by the pieced together, almost quilted clothes he wore, that he was no government agent. His hair was the color of beach sand and pulled back in a ponytail, fastened with what looked like suede twine, the kind people used to make those salvation bracelets at summer Christian camp. He squinted as he explained that his job was to search for people like me. His light brown irises looked directly into mine, signaling a teller of the truth. He resembled a lost boy, maybe stranded on an island.
He said he was there to take me away.
Anything has to be better than this.

Throwback Thursday {EMERGE}

She has thought up a million different ways to get away from them, but lacked the motivation and the sheer will. Like a fast moving tornado, her motivation comes in the form of a boy who cares for her as none other has and who shows her a glimpse of hope, a glimpse into a life she never thought she could have.
But is her new motivation enough to get her out…

Teaser Tuesday

He looked up at me, “Tell me what to be happy about right now.”
“Are you serious? You’ve got a hot chick in your bed. And…she’s a roller derby diva. Come on.”
And then he laughed.
“You did great tonight.”
“I did not. But I loved it. Although…now I’m starving and my legs feel like they’ve been put through a clothes wringer. I missed the team after party and pizza to go see some guy.”
“Lucky guy. He didn’t even feed you?”
“Not yet. I was planning on making him grovel with gifts of food.”
He walked his fingers across the bed and with the pad of his thumb he traced the outline of my lips. A shiver broke through me, revealing raised goosebumps along my arms.
“Nevermind, he’s forgiven,”

False Start Teaser

This False Start Teaser is in Falcon's POV.

“I hate needles,” she whispered to me in the elevator, turning off her phone, putting it in her pocket and grabbing my arm. I put my arm around her shoulders and she swatted me away, ever trying to be strong.
We headed through hallways, following arrows on the walls until we reached the Cancer Center. She was greeted by a woman her age who, after making us scrub down like surgeons, escorted us to a room with wall to wall reclining chairs. Some held people were hooked up to tubes, reading magazines, listening to music, watching The Pelican Brief play on the flat screens hanging from the ceiling. I couldn’t help the thought pulsing through my head, ‘no one deserves this’.

Another Surprise WIP Teaser...

“Chloe is certainly willing,” River snickered beside me.
I rolled my eyes at his jeering, “She practically humps me if no one’s around. It’s ridiculous. Maybe I can command her to get over herself. She knows how it goes. We are not mates and I’m not interested in anything with a female who isn’t my mate.”

She ran up the stairs and came back minutes later, frantic.

Secret WIP Teaser #2

*Gasp* What could it be?

I'm having the best time writing this book.

And now, the teaser:

     "I tried to escape once.
That’s when they started making me wear the taser collar around my neck, the same collars the dogs wore. As if my life wasn’t humiliating enough. When I reached a certain point on the perimeter, marked by little orange flags tied to branches, or if I went beyond the boundary, I was shocked. At first I rebelled against it, ran out of the boundary as many times as my neck could stand it. I had some burn marks to prove it. I’d stopped doing that years ago, finally succumbing to my station in the world and on this land."

FALSE START Teaser!

“His name is Rex! Call him now.”

“No. I will call him when I get home.”

“Oh great, another infamous Hayes first date. You should have a reality show or something.”

“Hush, Hazel.””

“No, I’m serious. I’d sit in my recliner and watch that show all night.”

I jumped down from the counter and began to walk towards the dining room, “You’d have to take that huge stick out of your ass first and then ask your ego to move over.”

Surprise WIP Teaser

This is the first teaser for my surprise WIP. I won't reveal the cover, synopis, release date or even title. Hint: It's a new genre for me.
After the last teaser is posted, I will publish it on all platforms.

What do you think?

"Finally on the road, I took the time to replay the moment I first saw her laying in the grass, her jet black hair seemed like it went on for miles and miles. She pounced like a feral cat when she heard us, and that’s when I knew that my mate was probably the bravest, fiercest female I’d ever had the pleasure of seeing.
And then her eyes, the color of a turquoise stone, connected with mine and my world shattered.
Nothing else mattered.
Everything in my body seized, including my heart, and with an exhale of bated breath, it began again, beating with hers, in time with the female I was created to love."

SEEKING HAVOK is LIVE!!!

Her life is just as messed up as her name.

All she wanted was a friend---one that knew her and not her circumstances. She needed somewhere to call home. Hers was an open door for countless men looking for the services her mother offered them. And then she found Cal...and Fade.

He moonlights as Fade, a radio station DJ who spends hours counseling his peers on their troubles. It was all mundane until Jocelyn called the station.

Cal and Havok pursue a friendship.

Jocelyn and Fade pursue a relationship beyond the confines of the radio waves.

But when Havok disappears, Cal will find that Havok has been guarding a lifetime worth of secrets. And when Fade and Jocelyn’s all night phone conversations cease, he finds a link between them he never saw coming.

Tuesday Teaser:Seeking Havok

This teaser is from the POV of Fade.

"I passed the local Laundromat and inside saw the newspaper girl from outside the bakery inside folding clothes while talking to a girl who could almost, from a distance, be her twin.  I moved to where the window of the Laundromat met the brick of the next building and used it to shield myself while I gawked.
It’s strange how you’ve never seen something in your life, but then once you become aware of it, you see it everywhere.  Such was the case with this girl—now that I’d seen her once, I saw her everywhere.
She wasn’t like anything I’d ever seen.  She was just pure beauty—simple and uncomplicated. When she laughed the sides of her nostrils flared a little bit and she held on to her friend’s arm.  Her friend proceeded to do a little off kilter jig and it threw her into a fit of doubled over laughter.  I wished the window wasn’t barring me from the sound of her laughter.  I knew, without having experienced it, that it was exquisite.
          Ugh—keep walking stalker man.
I shook myself out of a daze and kept walking until I got about ten feet from my front door.
Damn  it, I had to think about her, right?
Beth sat on the stoop eating what looked like beef jerky. I shuddered and barely contained the gulch from rising in my throat.  I hated beef jerky and the thought of her beef jerky breath in my face—might as well make out with a butcher, a stalker butcher."

Seeking Havok teaser!

First things first: Seeking Havok is getting a brand spanking new cover.  I mean, there's no spanking on it--I hope.

And here's the teaser.  I don't know when Seeking Havok will be released.  But I'm working on it!

“Hey,” I said.
          “Hey, you.” Fade answered.
          “You’re cheating,” I teased him.
          “I am?” He asked.
“Yes, you’re not supposed to meet me here until Sunday, you’re a little early.”
He chuckled a bit.  I balled my hands into fists to keep them from reaching out to touch his chest, checking if the rumble felt as good as it sounded.
“I guess I was just returning to the scene of the crime, hoping I’d get to see you sooner.”
That sounded like a lot more than friend talk.  And I loved it and loathed it at the same time.
“Well, I gotta get back to work.  By the way, I’m here every night at this time, in case you can’t wait until Sunday.”  Holy hell, did I just flirt back?
“I’ll have to be here then.  I need to get to work too.  See you later gorgeous.”
He walked off while I stood, frozen in time, mouth wide open.  That was definitely not friend talk.
I got back in the van and Mr. Randy had a smug grin on his face.
“Don’t say a word old man,” I picked on him.
“Nope,” he shook his head, “Not a damned word.”

Striking Saturday!

This time we get a peek at Cami's POV.

“Mama, can you do my hair now?” a sweet little girl, probably about five years old asked.
“I can’t just yet, sweetheart, I’ve gotta get these groceries put away. Maybe in a minute, alright?” Beth’s attention was already on the grocery bags and the mess in the kitchen.
The little girl’s face fell, but she looked around for a way to help her mom. What sweetness! I kind of felt like the Grinch when my heart swelled with compassion, like it had never felt that emotion before.
“I could do your hair,” I offered just loud enough for her to hear me. I held my breath while I waited for her to answer me, so terrified of rejection that tears swelled in my eyes. It was silly to be afraid of a little girl turning me down, but something in me just begged for something this innocent, this good, to look at me and say, yes. My chest ached in anticipation and I forced myself to hold my watery smile. She would definitely say no if I burst into tears in front of her.
“Really?” She smiled a toothless smile- the adorable kind after little kids had started to lose all their front teeth- at me and her eyes lit up with excitement. “Can you make my hair look like yours?”
I grinned back at her, I couldn’t help it. “Absolutely! Do you have a brush?”
She ran to grab one, plus some detangler and then we set up at the kitchen table. While Beth put away groceries, I combed and fishtail-braided little Lucy’s hair and then added one of the new bows Stockton bought. As soon as she was finished, her little sister who was somewhere in between the youngest boy and Lucy in age, sat down and demanded the same treatment. By the time I was finished, I was so proud of my work I just had to take a picture of the two darlings with my phone. There was just something so rewarding about doing little girls’ hair that I didn’t even know where to put all the happiness. I felt bursting with them and my heart felt too big for my body. These feelings were rare and coveted by me and I knew this moment would stay with me forever. And I had Stockton to thank.

Striking Saturdays!

Striking Saturdays!
You know you secretly wanna call it Stockton Saturdays.

On Saturdays, from now, until September 1st, Rachel and I are going to tease the heck out of you!

For the first part of this teaser, you have to work for it just a little bit.  Go to Rachel's blog here: http://www.rachelhigginson.com/2013/07/striking-saturdays.html
and see the first part!

Here's the rest.

“That’s nice, ma’am,” Stockton, the man with the evil glare, said kindly in return. When he turned his attention to my aunt he was all southern gentleman and chivalry, but as soon as he slid his attention back to me, he was the evil version of himself. “Pleasure to meet you, Cami.”
“Somehow I just don’t believe you,” I smiled sweetly but pinned him with a “tell the truth you bastard” glare. We were in church after all.
Stockton cleared his throat nervously but didn’t deny my accusation. “Well, I better go find Will.” He gave the preacher and my aunt another polite smile.
Suddenly my uncle piped in and asked, “But you’ll be by later to look at that fence?”
“Yes, sir,” Stockton answered immediately, but his gaze once again returned to me and I could see the panic flare to life behind his shuttered stare. He didn’t want to be anywhere near me and he wasn’t really trying to hide his feelings.
What in the hell had I ever done to him?
He was kind of pissing me off. Ok, not kind of, he was really pissing me off. Usually boys bent over backwards to get my attention. I was one fine piece of ass, and he should be tripping over his words and wiping the drool from his chin! He should not be in a hurry to get as far away from me as possible.
So I did what any sane, rational girl would do in this situation, I extended my hand and turned on the charm. “It was so nice to meet someone my age, Stockton. You’ll have to show me around town one of these days.”
